The homeowners of this 19th Century Farmhouse have a passion for cooking, so naturally the epicenter of their home is the kitchen and it needed a complete upgrade. The kitchen had to function and stand the test of time through the constant use of two resolute cooks and their busy family. The room was taken back to its framing and the floor joists were leveled to accommodate varying width, white oak flooring. Tongue and groove paneling was applied to all the walls and Shaker-style custom cabinetry was custom designed to fit the space from floor to ceiling. Butcher block countertops, a verdant French range, ceramic shaded pendants and warm, patinated copper accessories help to soften the space and make it welcoming for long hours over the stove. The highly functional mudroom just off the kitchen welcomes each country guest in a rich shade of green, melding inside and outside.
